Editorial policy
The standards behind every ranking, review and price on this site.
Accuracy first
- We only state facts we have checked against a primary source, normally the provider’s own website, and we record where and when.
- We never mark a feature as included unless the provider lists it. If a provider doesn’t mention something, we say “not listed” rather than assume either way.
- We don’t invent testing, purchases, reviewers or customer experiences. If we haven’t bought a provider’s report, we don’t claim to have, and the methodology says which scores rely on published material.
How rankings are produced
Rankings come from published criteria and weights, applied the same way to every provider. Each criterion score is our editorial judgement, with a written reason on the provider’s review, and the ranking follows the weighted scores. Awards such as “Best Value” recognise a provider that leads on a specific, stated measure.
Impartiality
Best Car Checks is an independent comparison site. To keep the comparison fair:
- Every provider is scored against the same criteria, weights and evidence standard, and its weaknesses are listed alongside its strengths.
- Every score, weight and reason is published, so the ranking can be checked rather than taken on trust.
- Where a provider is cheaper, offers a bigger guarantee or a better multi-car deal, we say so and recognise it.
- Corrections from any provider are handled the same way.
Links and money
Our links to providers are ordinary links to their official websites, not affiliate or tracking links, and providers don’t pay to appear or for their position.
Updates
Prices and features change, so we review the information periodically and whenever a provider or reader reports a change. Each review shows when its facts were last verified.
Corrections
If something on this site is wrong, tell us with a link to the source. We check corrections against the primary source and, if confirmed, update the data and the verified date. Significant corrections that change a score or ranking are reflected straight away, because scores and rankings are calculated from the data.
